Chief Pilot - Helicopter Operations

We are a family owned and operated fixed wing company based in Australia looking to expand into helicopters on a new AOC.

Flying is 6 days per week while on tour. In return you will get well above average salaries, excellent flying hours and well maintained aircraft.

About You

Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter provides helicopter emergency medical and search & rescue services to the NSW northern region, 24 hours a day, 365 days per year.

We are currently seeking expressions of interest for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Pilot to join our dedicated team through until April 2016. The Northern Region Life Saver Rescue Helicopter operates two Eurocopter - Single Pilot IFR AS365N2 Dauphin Helicopters.

Chief Pilot

Established charter operator looking for a qualified Chief Pilot who will operate and maintain an efficient and safe flying PA31 operations. You must be a team player with a hands on approach, an outstanding work ethic and the ability to lead by example. The role will be based in Brisbane, with flight operations initially in regional NSW.

As the Chief Pilot, your key role is to provide each of our customers with a quality service that exceeds their expectations and to have a commitment to safety and carry out all duties in a safe manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fulfil the chief pilot and check and training responsibilities as set out by CASA rules and regulations.
  • The Chief Pilot shall have control of all Flight Crew Training (where applicable) and operational matters affecting the safety of flying operations.
  • Ensuring that all Company air operations are conducted in compliance with the Civil Aviation Act, CAR's, CAO's and AIP's, and the AOC and Schedules.
  • Arranging Flight Crew rosters.
  • Maintaining a record of licences, medicals, ratings held by each flight crew including validity, recency, type endorsements, and if applicable licence restrictions.
  • Maintaining a system of recording flight crew duty and flight times to ensure compliance with Duty and Flight Time Limitations.
  • Ensuring compliance with loading procedures specified for each aircraft type.
  • Monitoring operational standards, maintaining training records and supervising the training and checking of flight crew.
  • Conduct Proficiency tests in Emergency Procedures.
  • Training of Crew in Acceptance of DG’s in accordance with CASR 92
  • Maintaining a complete and up to date reference library of operational documents as specified by CASA for the class of operations to be conducted.
  • Allocation of aeroplanes appropriate to the planned task, where applicable.
  • Quality assurance of flight operations is the responsibility of the Chief Pilot.

Selection Criteria:

To be considered for this position it is essential you have:

  • Australian Air Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL).
  • Command Multi Engine Instrument Rating.
  • Civil Aviation Safety Authority Class 1 medical certificate.
  • Minimum of 2000 hours total flight time.
  • Minimum of 500 hours Command or ICUS flight time on multi-engine aircraft under the I.F.R.
  • Minimum 500 hours Command PA31.
  • Australian citizen or permanent residence status.

You will be self-driven and demonstrate passion, enthusiasm and an appetite to achieve and succeed. With the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships, this is a role where no one day will be the same.
