Chief Pilot

Established charter operator looking for a qualified Chief Pilot who will operate and maintain an efficient and safe flying PA31 operations. You must be a team player with a hands on approach, an outstanding work ethic and the ability to lead by example. The role will be based in Brisbane, with flight operations initially in regional NSW.

As the Chief Pilot, your key role is to provide each of our customers with a quality service that exceeds their expectations and to have a commitment to safety and carry out all duties in a safe manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fulfil the chief pilot and check and training responsibilities as set out by CASA rules and regulations.
  • The Chief Pilot shall have control of all Flight Crew Training (where applicable) and operational matters affecting the safety of flying operations.
  • Ensuring that all Company air operations are conducted in compliance with the Civil Aviation Act, CAR's, CAO's and AIP's, and the AOC and Schedules.
  • Arranging Flight Crew rosters.
  • Maintaining a record of licences, medicals, ratings held by each flight crew including validity, recency, type endorsements, and if applicable licence restrictions.
  • Maintaining a system of recording flight crew duty and flight times to ensure compliance with Duty and Flight Time Limitations.
  • Ensuring compliance with loading procedures specified for each aircraft type.
  • Monitoring operational standards, maintaining training records and supervising the training and checking of flight crew.
  • Conduct Proficiency tests in Emergency Procedures.
  • Training of Crew in Acceptance of DG’s in accordance with CASR 92
  • Maintaining a complete and up to date reference library of operational documents as specified by CASA for the class of operations to be conducted.
  • Allocation of aeroplanes appropriate to the planned task, where applicable.
  • Quality assurance of flight operations is the responsibility of the Chief Pilot.

Selection Criteria:

To be considered for this position it is essential you have:

  • Australian Air Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL).
  • Command Multi Engine Instrument Rating.
  • Civil Aviation Safety Authority Class 1 medical certificate.
  • Minimum of 2000 hours total flight time.
  • Minimum of 500 hours Command or ICUS flight time on multi-engine aircraft under the I.F.R.
  • Minimum 500 hours Command PA31.
  • Australian citizen or permanent residence status.

POSITION: CHIEF PILOT AND CHIEF FLYING INSTRUCTOR

The Tasmanian Aero Club has a position available for a Chief Pilot/Chief Flying Instructor based at Launceston Airport, starting ASAP.  The position could be either full or part time.  Above all, management skills would be highly desirable along with the ability to juggle charter flights, flying lessons and staff rosters to suit varying customer requirements.

The Tasmanian Aero Club is a VFR charter and flying school business operating 3 x 172’s, 2 x J160 Jabiru aircraft and a PN68. RAA ops are conducted in CTA under an exemption issued by CASA.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Grade 1 Instructor rating
  • RAA experience or 20 hours in aircraft less than 600kG MTOW
  • Twin Engine endorsement

The existing CP would be willing to assist in training to pass CASA interview if required.

  • Fulfil the chief pilot responsibilities as set out in Appendix 1 of CAO 82.0
  • Assist with the management of Resort assets
  • Direct and ensure pilots use non-flying time efficiently, to the benefit of the Resort
  • Roster Pilots according to demand and within legal guidelines
