Head of Operations/Chief Pilot

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Operations/Chief Pilot (HOO/CP) to join our aviation team, preferably based at our Adelaide Head Office or our office on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. The HOO/CP reports to the Part 138 Chief Executive Officer/General Manager Aviation and plays a key role in ensuring all air operations are conducted in compliance with both legislated and CASA requirements.

Responsibilities of this role include

  • Arrange flight crew rosters and review pilot schedules to ensure regulatory compliance and efficiency of flying operations.
  • Maintain records of all flying operations as required and ensure that flight personnel have the necessary skills, training, and licenses.
  • Monitor operational standards, training records and supervise the training and checking of flight crew to maintain a safe operation.
  • Conduct proficiency tests in the execution of emergency procedures and issuing of certificates of proficiency.
  • Regularly review and create flight procedures, if required and monitor adherence to them.
  • Undertake flying operations as required.

What you'll need (essential requirements)

  • Commercial Pilots Licence (Aeroplane)
  • Class 1 Medical Certificate
  • Multi-engine Aeroplane Instrument Rating
  • RU, MPPC, PXS Design Feature Endorsements
  • 2500 hours total time
  • 500 hours multi-engine command
  • Demonstrable leadership experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to build effective working relationships
  • Keen analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent time management and administrative skills

What we'd like (desirable requirements)

  • Previous Chief Pilot experience
  • Cessna 400 series and Vulcanair P68 experience
  • Previous experience in aerial survey operations
