Flight Instructors

About Us:

The Australian Air League NSW Air Activities Centre at Camden Airport is uniquely positioned as the only volunteer-run, not-for-profit Part 141 Flight Training Organisation and Part 135 Air Transport Operator in Oceania.

For over 30 years we have proudly supported the next generation of pilots, leaders, and aviators with the Australian Air League holding an excellent reputation for producing high quality pilots. Many have gone on to graduate from Air Activities and are now flying with major airlines, charter companies, the Defence Force, as well as other aviation related roles both locally and abroad.

About the Role:

We are looking for suitability qualified flight instructors to join our team and volunteer their time to fly on a casual basis with the Air Activities Centre at Camden Airport. As a part-time flying school we generally operate on weekends and public holidays, as well as ad-hoc weekday camps.

This role would be ideal for individuals who have a genuine passion for aviation and is well suited for those not currently working in the aviation industry due to potential flight and duty time constraints. Applicants who may have previously held a Flight Instructor Rating are also encouraged to apply as we can re-activate your former qualifications through our in-house instructor school.

Qualifications:

  • Must hold or be able to hold a NSW Working With Children Check.
  • Must at a minimum hold a Commercial Pilots Licence Aeroplane category rating issued under CASR Part 61.
  • Must at a minimum hold a Flight Instructor Rating Grade 3, Grade 2, or Grade 1 training endorsement (desirable to hold a current flight proficiency check but not a requirement).
  • Must at a minimum hold/be able to obtain a valid Class 2 aviation medical.
  • Must have reliable transport to attend Camden Airport (ie. Hold a driver licence and own a car).
  • Knowledge of CASR Part 61 flight crew licensing legislation and CASR Part 141 flight training legislation or wiliness to learn.
  • Ability to apply competency-based training principles and safety principals to pilot training and aeroplane operation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Desirable to hold either a Night VFR rating or Instrument rating training endorsement.
  • Desirable to hold flight activity training endorsement for formation and/or aerobatics.
