Company Background
Flight Training Adelaide Queensland (FTAQ), based at Wellcamp Airport, in QLD, is the newest addition to Flight Training Adelaide group and provides further scope for training within Australia. FTAQ specialises in ab-initio pilot training for the airline industry and has a long term contract to provide pilot training for the QANTAS pilot training academy.

Role
The Casual Flight Operations Support Officer (OPSO) is responsible for the effective and efficient running of the Operations Room in the absence of the Flight Operations Supervisor.

This role will report to the Operations Supervisor, Deputy Head of Operations or the Duty Officer depending who is in charge.

Responsibilities

  • Support Operations Supervisor in the Operations Room.
  • Maintain FTA manuals and forms in the Operations Room Manual in the Operations Room at all times.
  • Maintain official documents and forms in the Operations Room, including aircraft maintenance log books.
  • Assist in the coordination with flight instructors and Engineering on the dispatching of aircraft resources to ensure maximum safety and productivity.
  • Maintain logs of Operations Room equipment such as headsets, high visibility vests, life jackets, chart sets, Garmin Glo’s and kneepads etc.
  • Communicate weather and other safety warnings to the pilots.
  • Comply with CASA and company Drug and Alcohol Management Testing Program.
  • Carry out the fuel Quantity Control Checks in the absence of the Operations Supervisor.
  • Monitor and manage the Emergency Response Plan, which includes, among other things, internal and external SARTIME.
  • Undertake any other duties as reasonably requested by management.
  • Must be able to work shifts – weekends and morning, afternoon/evening shifts.
Qualifications
  • Ability to prioritise and communicate effectively, in writing, verbally and over VHF radio.
  • Excellent management skills.
  • The ability to work in a team environment.
  • Aviation background or a keen interest in aviation a real asset.
  • ASIC (Aviation Security Identification Card) an advantage.
  • An Aviation Radio Operator Certificate (AROC), or the ability to apply for one.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Effective writing skills.
A requirement of our recruitment process at FTAQ is for the successful applicant to provide a Pre-Employment Drug and Alcohol Test and a Clear Australian National Police Check.
