Head of Flying Operations

GSL Aviation operate in Cairns, and the Whitsundays. Operations are predominantly tourism-based, carrying guests on scenic flights and tours around the Whitsunday Islands and Great Barrier Reef. Air Whitsunday Seaplanes is also part of the GSL Group, and operates amphibious float planes in the Whitsundays.

We are seeking a suitably qualified pilot to act as the Head of Flying Operations for both amphibious, and non-amphibious aircraft. The position will oversee the operation of the following aircraft types:

  • C208 amphib
  • C208B
  • GA8
  • C206

Substantial experience on floats is required, with a minimum 1000 hours on float/amphibious aircraft, and 2000 water landings. Experience on C208 variants is also required.

Previous approval as Chief Pilot/HOFO is highly regarded, although not a requirement. Experience in tourism operations is also highly regarded.

Minimum Experience is strictly:

  • CPL(A)
  • 3000 hours total time
  • 1000 hours on floats - inc. 2000 water landings
  • 500 hours C208
  • Current ASIC
  • DG Awareness

The position will be based in Airlie Beach, and suitable candidates must be willing to relocate to the Whitsundays.

Salary will be consistent with the applicant's qualifications and experience, circa $120k + Super.

Additional remuneration may be offered to applicants that are able to fulfil training requirements, including float endorsements, IPC's, and proficiency checks.
