AAPMBF Loss of Licence Cover

AFAP members have exclusive access to the Australian Air Pilots Mutual Benefit Fund (MBF) - the premier provider of loss of licence support to commercial pilots in Australia.

In 1961 the AFAP established the MBF to provide compensation for loss of licence on medical grounds. The MBF exists solely to assist its members, providing peace of mind that they will be financially supported in the event that their Australian Class One Medical Certificate is suspended or cancelled.

The Air Pilots Award 2010 provides for an annual reimbursement amount for loss of licence cover. Annual reimbursement provisions are also typically included in enterprise agreements negotiated by the AFAP, thereby reducing, and even eliminating the cost of MBF cover to pilots.
