ASAM Conference 2018

ASAM Conference 2018//

The AFAP Welfare Department recently attended the Australasian Society of Aerospace Medicine (ASAM) 2018 Conference in Alice Springs. This was very well attended by numerous aviation medical professionals, allowing for a space to openly discuss current topical subjects.

Among these conversations was air quality (fume events) in the airline industry and how it is both communicated to members and overall handled by companies. With one particular aspect that was overall agreed one, that these fume events can effect people to varying degrees and after effects can be displayed differently also. Alongside this, attendees discussed how companies can better inform members of the various protocols and how each airline is set up to assist pilots medically.
