AFAP Continuous Resilience Development program

AFAP Continuous Resilience Development – more information

The AFAP Resilient Pilot program has been achieving great success for AFAP members (both single pilot and multi crew) specifically in confidence-building through competency development.

Members who have participated in the program have achieved commands, first jobs, return to line after a break, post performance or safety events and even for keeping non technical skills sharp.

Often a pilot is told WHAT competencies they need to develop … but not HOW to develop them. The AFAP Continuous Resilience Development looks at behaviours and provides a space for pilots to develop in a no jeopardy environment. Finally, somewhere to develop the ‘HOW’.

The program continues to evolve, with a new addition to its suite of tools designed to enhance pilot performance and training.

Resilience Deck: Data-Driven Performance Management

In an exciting development, the AFAP is introducing the Resilience Deck, a cutting-edge training management software application specifically built for airline pilots. This innovative tool is based on Competency-Based Training and Assessment (CBTA) methodologies, providing a data-driven approach to human performance enhancement. The Resilience Deck is soon to be launched into the program for use by current and future participants.

Key features of the Resilience Deck include:

  • Tailored for airline pilots
  • Utilizes CBTA methodologies
  • Provides data-driven insights for performance improvement
  • Accessible via a user-friendly app interface

The Resilience Deck complements the existing elements of the AFAP Continuous Resilience Development program, which focuses on developing competency, confidence, and connection among pilots.

Program Overview and Benefits

The AFAP Continuous Resilience Development program offers:

  • Virtual simulator scenarios for competency development
  • Access to a Resilience Deck for self-paced learning
  • Mentoring and coaching options
  • Flexibility to choose program elements based on individual needs

Industry Recognition and Expansion

The program has gained significant traction within the aviation industry, with demonstrations conducted at various events and organisations leading to the new company Resilient Programs Asia Pacific (RPAP) being set up to allow commercial exposure. Of particular interest is competency based training instructor development using Resilient Pilot methodologies.

Regulatory Interest

We continue to update the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) ensuring transparency of the program's potential positive impact on aviation safety standards.

Accessibility and Subscription

AFAP members can access the program at a discounted rate. The program is designed for long-term engagement, with a minimum recommended participation of 12 months.
