The AFAP attended transport minister Catherine King’s Aviation Roundtable along with representatives from other aviation unions, peak industry groups, airports and airlines (Qantas, Rex & Virgin).
Discussion topics included:
• Addressing critical skills shortages, particularly in regional & remote Australia
• Identification of regulatory roadblocks to training & skills development upgrades/transferability
• Impacts & opportunities of a net-zero transition on the workforce
Outcomes from the discussions will inform the Albanese Government’s Jobs and Skills Summit, to be held at Parliament House in Canberra on 1–2 September.
