Air Pilots Award Increases & Superannuation Changes for July 2026

Re AFAP Update – Award Increases & Superannuation Changes for July 2026

Minimum wages and relative allowances in the Air Pilots Award 2020 will increase from 1 July 2026.

As a result of the Fair Work Commission (FWC) Annual Wage Review 2026 decision today, the minimum wage rates under the Award will increase by 4.75% from the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2026.

Allowances calculated from the Standard Rate in the Award will increase by the 4.75%.

Other allowances such as loss of licence, accommodation, meals and transport allowances are subject to separate indexation to be confirmed in by FWC in the near future.

The AFAP will provide AFAP members the updated Award for you to review the minimum rates and allowances when it is published by the FWC.

Please note that the increase in Award wages will not affect members currently covered by an enterprise agreement.

The AFAP trusts that employers will pass on increases to Award-based pilots from the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2026.

Required employer superannuation contributions in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee (Administration) Act 1992 (Cth) remain at a minimum of 12% however new requirements for employers to provide “Pay Day superannuation” are in force from the 1 July 2026 (noting this means, superannuation is required to be paid into your super fund within 7 days from your pay day).

If employers don’t pass along your entitlements, or if you have any queries about the increase to Award minimum wages and/or allowances (or your entitlements in general), please contact the AFAP at industrial@afap.org.au or on (03) 9928 5737.
