Professional Seaplane Pilot Training Program with Sydney Seaplanes
Seaplane flying is undoubtedly one of the most enjoyable, challenging and rewarding forms of aviation.
A qualified and experienced seaplane captain will have the opportunity of gaining well paid employment flying in some of the world’s most beautiful locations, from Sydney Harbour, to the Maldives, to Halong Bay, to the Caribbean – and the opportunities continue to grow, in Australia and abroad.
For Australian commercial pilots, the pathway to gaining enough experience to open up these opportunities has been slow and difficult, with very few entry level jobs - until now.
Sydney Seaplanes is pleased to announce a Professional Seaplane Pilot Training program that accepts and encourages applicants from commercial pilots with nil or very little seaplane time. The program will include:
- A seaplane endorsement in the DHC-2 Beaver.
- A period of time working on the dock and in dispatch; components essential for pilots to develop a full understanding of the inner workings of a busy commercial seaplane base.
- ICUS in Sydney Seaplanes straight float DHC-2 Beaver and amphibious C-208 Caravans with Sydney Seaplanes experienced crew.
- On successfully completing the course employment with Sydney Seaplanes as a Captain.
Applications are encouraged from:
- Australian citizens and permanent residents.
- Holders of an Australian CPL or ATPL, with a minimum of 750 flight hours, preferably derived in a commercial charter operation.
- Instrument rating with commercial IFR experience an advantage.
- Nautical knowledge and experience an advantage.
- Demonstrable interest in seaplanes and commitment to pursuing a long term career flying seaplanes.
