Deputy Flight Operations

Our Aviation team are on the lookout for a Deputy Flight Operations to join their dynamic group. This position is responsible for coordinating with the oversight and day to day operations of the aviation department.
Reporting directly to the ExpCo Operations Manager Aviation, this pivotal role will have the following responsibilities:
- Coordination of day-to-day oversight of aircraft operations activity’s; ensure the right aircraft in the right place at the right time, with the right crew, ready to go to ensure missions run smoothly and effectively.
- Coordination of AU Flight crew staff; measure and report the effectiveness and efficiency of aviation activities and employee’s and contracted staff performance
- Work closely with ExPCo Operations Manager Aviation and management team to set and/or implement policies, procedures and systems and to follow through with implementation.
- Communicate significant operating challenges and safety issues during department meetings to ensure all processes remain compliant with governing regulations.
- Logistics coordination of aircraft relocations/unserviceability’s/maintenance scheduling/operational demand and communicate any changes to the State Senior Pilots as directed by the Operations Manager Aviation.
- Management and coordination of DZ Supplies List stock and Aviation Fuel Facilities and fuel volumes.
- Control and manage Flight Crew and operational matters affecting the safety of the flight operations.
- Report all safety issues to the Quality Safety Manager.
- Maintain safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with governing regulations.
- Help promote company culture that encourages top performance and high morale.
- Assist to develop, actively Support and promote the SMS.
- Responsible for the oversight of department inventory control (iPad’s, PEPs, O2 etc).
- Responsible for the oversight of pilot related data entry in the Flightops program with the ability to identify deficiencies and liaise with Senior Pilots for rectification.
- Provide support and assistance with pilot HR documentation, pre-employment/engagement processes, onboarding and induction processes across Australia as required.
- Oversight of department payroll and contractor invoice reconciliations ensuring accuracy ready for payments.
- Assist the Head of Checking and Training with carrying out Flight Crew recurrency checks, crew standardisation, maintaining training records, Aircraft and DZ audits as required
- Carry out pilot duties if / when rostered as duty pilot for Part 135 operations
- Carry out pilot duties if / when rostered as duty pilot for Skydive operations
You will know you're ideal if you have the following skills & experience:
- Aviation industry experience in Flight Operations/Flight Dispatch/Planning and/or previous experience in personnel management role
- Knowledge of aviation basics: Air Law & General Operating Procedures, Aircraft Operations & Flight Planning, Meteorology & Navigation, Principles of Flight & Communications
- Minimum 1,000 hours flight time experience
- CASA Part 91 Commercial Pilot Licence and Instrument Flight Rating
- C208 experience
- Previous Parachute ops experience desirable
- Experience in Part 135 Operations
- Reliability, punctuality, and ability to work under pressure
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated with excellent organisational abilities
- Computer literacy utilising Windows
- Current drivers’ licence
An opportunity exists for the successful applicant of this role to progress into the role of Deputy Chief Pilot under our Air Operators Certificate (AOC) operations. The successful applicant will need to have a minimum of 500 hours flight time on single engine turbine aircraft with a minimum of 9 months in commercial operations.
