The role

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Rotary Wing Pilot to join our dedicated team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Efficiently conduct helicopter aerial firefighting / fire ground support tasking, training, aeromedical and SAR operations.
  • Conduct training and checking activities (aircraft and simulator) for the RW pilot group ensuring compliance with CareFlight and CASA standards.
  • Maintain all relevant licences, ratings, and endorsements applicable to the role.
  • Ensure operations are conducted in accordance with the company
  • Operations Manual, Aircraft Flight Manual and all legislative requirements.
  • Conduct required ground instruction for Pilots, aircrew members, MTS, and TS.
  • Conduct training and checking of Pilots (aircraft and simulator) for Part 61 and Company proficiency checks.
  • Conduct training and checking of Pilots (aircraft and simulator) for Company Part 141/142 activities.
  • Develop, audit and revise syllabi and training packages across a broad range of Aviation related activities.

About you

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Australian Commercial Pilot Licence - Helicopter.
  • CASA Class 1 Medical.
  • 2,500 flying hours total rotary.
  • 2,000 flying hours Pilot-In-Command (PIC) rotary.
  • 1,500 flying hours PIC turbine rotary.
  • 500 flying hours PIC multi-engine rotary.
  • 100 flying hours IFR.
  • 100 flying hours night VFR.
  • 100 flying hours NVIS.
  • B412 type rating with 200 hours on type.
  • Low Level Rating (H) with SO and WR endorsements.
  • Aerial Application Rating with Fire (H) endorsement.
  • Multi-engine IR with minimum 3 renewals.
  • Night VFR Rating.
  • NVIS Rating with Grade 1 endorsement.
  • Flight Instructor Rating with IR and NVIS TE’s.
  • Flight Examiner Rating with IR and NVIS flight test endorsements.
  • Previous experience as a Training and Checking Pilot within a Part 133/138 or previous CAR 217 organisation.

  • Flight in the wire and obstruction environment awareness course.
  • 50 hours minimum airborne fire operations experience.
  • Vertical reference 100ft long line experience.
  • Class/type ratings - AS350, AW139, H145, BK117.
  • Bucketing and belly-tank experience.
