Black Diamond Aviation is a privately owned aircraft charter company, operating out of Gove Airport in East Arnhemland. Founded by Matthew and Mache Collins - a husband and wife team - we commenced our operations in 2011 with a fleet of just one aircraft. However, it was Matthew's vision of providing an air service with an absolute and unambiguous commitment to remote settlements and communities within Arnhemland, and the corporate sectors that support and service them, that saw Black Diamond Aviation grow dramatically.

Black Diamond Aviation is the leading and locally preferred operator in Arnhemland, with a dedicated team of highly competent pilots and a superior fleet of aircraft. Our charter capabilities include passenger charter, scenic tours, airfreight and remote logistics, aerial surveys, aerial photography, and search and rescue.

Gove Airport is located 15km from the Nhulunbuy township and is serviced by daily flights to and from Darwin (NT) and Cairns (QLD). Nhulunbuy has a strong sense of community and is the ideal place to live for individuals and families alike. Nhulunbuy boasts 2 primary schools, 1 high school, a hospital, a range of shops (including a Woolworths supermarket), pubs and restaurants. There is a range of very active sporting clubs and an aquatic centre. East Arnhemland is best known for its off-road driving, fishing, and camping next to the world’s most pristine waters. Much of Arnhemland is untouched as is the perfect place to call home.

About the Role:

Reporting to the Chief Pilot, you will be responsible for operating a twin-engine aircraft (Beechcraft Baron and/or Cessna310) around Arnhemland. You can expect a fast-paced charter environment which will include day and night flying, single pilot operations and remote community service.

Due to our remote location, our services are largely depended on by the sick and injured. You should expect that this role will require you to, at times, complete medivac flights as well as conduct search and rescue flights. As these vulnerable times cannot be predicted, Black Diamond Aviation is a 24/7 company.

Key Duties and responsibilities of the role include:

In addition to flying duties, pilots are expected to assist with supporting other pilots with pre- and post-flight duties, cleaning of aircraft, assisting the operations team as required, and general cleaning and maintenance duties of the base

• Previous experience in a fast-paced charter operation environment
• Demonstrate that you have enthusiasm, energy, a high level of personal presentation
• Enthusiasm, hard work and a positive attitude with the ability to be solution focused in challenging situations
• Have excellent people and communication skills
• 800 Total Flight Hours
• 20 hours Multi Engine
• 10 hours in a Beechcraft Baron/Cessna310
• Previous charter experience
• Australian CPL (A)
• Current IPC
• MEA IR IAP 2D IAP 3D (1 Renewal)
• Current Class 1 Medical
• ASIC
• Dangerous Goods Awareness Certificate
