CL604 Captain – Cairns based

  • Must be located in Cairns or willing to relocate to Cairns for this position
  • Family and lifestyle friendly roster: 2 x AM shifts, 2 x PM, 2 x Standby at home, 3 x RDOs

  • Leidos Airborne Solutions Australia Search and Rescue (SAR) Services, working under a long-term contract with the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) is looking for experienced pilots, who are passionate about making a difference, as Direct Entry Captain at our Cairns base. Our pilots fly in a unique and challenging environment, with a key humanitarian focus aimed at assisting people in potentially traumatic and life-threatening situations.

    As a Captain with the SAR team, you will provide essential leadership and support to your entire crew, working diligently, quickly, and professionally, to ensure that each mission is a success.

    This is not an ordinary pilot job. You will command a highly modified modern medium business jet, equipped jet with the most advanced technology ever to be integrated into a civil SAR platform and work with a highly skilled team.

    What we need
  • Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident (some nationality restrictions apply due to ITAR requirements)
  • Australian Passport or Passport from a country without travel restrictions
  • Australian ATPL(A)
  • CASA Class 1 Medical
  • Hold or be eligible to hold an Aviation Security Identity Card (ASIC)
  • 3000 hours total flying time
  • 2000 hours total flying time in command/ICUS or, if less, have significant CL-604 or similar experience
  • 1000 hours jet time or, if less, extensive multi-crew command turbo-prop experience in maritime surveillance, SAR or similar operations
  • Instructor qualifications will be well regarded
  • Previous experience in low level flying; SAR or surveillance operations will be well regarded

In addition:

  • You must commit to being within 30 minutes of your assigned airport when on night standby
  • Type rating training will attract a Bond
