DHC8 Captain Training and Checking Instructor

• Starting salary $224,123 plus travel allowances
• Options for basing in Broome, Darwin, Cairns, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth
• Additional location incentive allowances for Broome and Darwin based pilots

Airborne Solutions Australia provides fixed-wing border surveillance services under contract to the Australian Border Force. This is the world’s largest outsourced civil maritime surveillance operation, patrolling Australia’s 8.2 million square kilometre Exclusive Economic Zone, operating 10 Bombardier Dash 8 aircraft from our bases in Cairns, Darwin, and Broome.

You will command a highly modified aircraft, with the most advanced technology ever to be integrated into a civil surveillance platform and work with a highly skilled team.

As a captain with the surveillance team, you will provide essential leadership and support to your entire crew, working diligently, quickly, and professionally, to ensure that each mission is a success. As a member of the training and checking team you will play a critical role in the professional development of Dash 8 pilots while conducting training and checking activities in the aircraft and simulator.

This vital role provides fantastic job satisfaction and excellent opportunities to grow as an instructor. Successful candidates will be provided with training to complete additional instructor and examiner qualifications.

What we need (essential)

• Australian citizen with current passport
• CASA Class 1 Aviation Medical
• Australian ATPL(A)
• 2000 hours total time
• Multi-crew, multi-engine, turbine engine aeroplane command experience
• Experience as a trainer in a Part 138 or 121 (CAR 217) training and checking system
• Australian Flight or Simulator Instructor Rating endorsed with DHC8
• Eligibility for both an Aviation Security Identity Card (ASIC) and Australian government security clearances

Desirable

• Surveillance or SAR flying experience
