Posted 11 November 2025 in Fixed Wing, CPL, Australia, ATPL

About us

Kirkhope Aviation operates Australian Air Safaris — fully escorted, all-inclusive premium air tours (1–15 days) across Australia. Our fleet includes two C208 Grand Caravan EX, a Beechcraft B200 King Air and Piper PA-31 Chieftains.

The role

We’re seeking a versatile Touring Pilot (C208) who thrives in a guest-facing environment. Our pilots don’t just fly — they host. You’ll lead small groups through remarkable destinations, coordinating with local partners and delivering a seamless, premium experience while maintaining the highest safety and airmanship standards.

  • Tours up to 15 days; pilots stay with guests at quality/luxury properties
  • Peak season: March–October; shorter tours and prep duties outside peak
  • C208 time essential; progression to B200 available for the right candidate (CASR Part 141 training in-house)

Mandatory qualifications & experience

  • Australian CPL or ATPL (Aeroplanes)
  • Command Instrument Rating (MEA) with current IPC
  • 1,500 hrs total time (Aeroplanes)
  • 100 hrs on type (C208)
  • 150 hrs planned IFR cross-country time (preferably in a CASR Part 135 operation)
  • Class 1 Aviation Medical
  • Current ASIC
  • Drivers Licence

Desirable

  • Demonstrated tourism/hospitality experience (hosting tours or premium experiences)
  • Warm, professional interpersonal skills; able to engage confidently with mature-age guests
  • BE20 or PA-31 experience
  • Training & Checking background
  • Capability to be nominated as Alternate Head of Flying Operations

Selection criteria (address in your application)

Please provide short, evidence-based responses showing how you meet each criterion:

- Guest hosting & tour leadership: examples of delivering premium, end-to-end guest experiences.
- Single-pilot IFR proficiency: decision-making, workload management and SOP discipline (C208 examples ideal).
- Safety & risk management: application of SMS/FRMS, threat & error management, and sound judgement in remote ops.
- Communication & professionalism: engaging with mature-age clients; resolving issues with empathy and clarity.
- Operational coordination: working with ground partners/accommodation; keeping itineraries on time without compromising safety.
- Growth potential: interest/aptitude for B200 progression and (if applicable) Training & Checking or leadership duties.
