Temporary iFlight Agreement – Update Re Mandatory Acknowledgement of duty changes
You will recall that the Sunstate Pilot Council advised members back in mid April that we had flagged with the Sunstate management the potential disputation regarding the iFlight App failing to meet the requirements of the Enterprise Agreement. In particular the 'mandatory acknowledgment of duty changes'.
At the time an interim 3 month agreement was reached whereby Sunstate management provided instructions to the Regional Operations Centre to make contact and reach mutual agreement with a pilot prior to deploying roster changes
With the expiry of this window occurring on 14th the company provided a brief update as follows:
“Software update and timeline
We are currently awaiting the latest iFlight software release which will enable changes to the current mandatory acknowledgement process. We have been advised by out software supplier, IBS, that this release is currently delayed while defects identified during testing are resolved. We are currently awaiting IBS to commit to a timeline for fixes, but their current estimates are that these should be completed during August or September. We will inform you if IBS provide us with further updates and extend the timeline.
Mandatory acknowledgement is one of many change requests currently in place for iFlight and IBS has deployed a dedicated team to deliver the update”
In light of the fact that the Council has not received any feedback from the membership that this interim arrangement has failed to operate successfully, we will be confirming with the company that the ‘interim arrangement’ can continue for another three months with a slight change that ALL duty changes will now require a phone call.
As a reminder the arrangement is as follows:
- The Regional Operations Centre to make contact and reach mutual agreement with a pilot prior to deploying roster changes.
- Any callout from reserve must be by phone call.
The Council can also advise members that they are only ‘required’ to be contactable via phone whilst on a reserve.
As before we are asking all pilots to report instances where the above processes are not adhered to, as this will potentially lead to the formal dispute process being escalated.

Sunstate Pilot Council
