QPC Briefing No 16 2026 - Annual Allocations

QPC Briefing No 16 2026
Annual Allocations

As pilots will have seen Qantas withheld the release of A350 vacancies as part of the annual allocations yesterday. The AFAP has written to Qantas advising that this represents a blatant breach of clause 16.4.2 of the EA:

Advertising initial vacancies

The Company will advertise all initial vacancies planned for a training block by 15 April each year. Each advertised vacancy will specify the bid period in which training is expected to commence and, if possible, the planned date on which the training course is to commence.

There is no basis in the EA to withhold advertising vacancies in compliance with the EA pending an EA vote. The above clause remains operative until a new EA is in place, and even if there is a yes vote today a new EA will not be in place until well after May 8.

The AFAP has advised Qantas it should immediately release a NTFS with the A350 positions as required by the EA.

As pilots know the vote for Long Haul closes at 14:00 AEST today. We remind pilots who are yet to vote to ignore the attempts by Qantas to link voting on the LH EA and the annual allocations. The vote on LHEA11 is about whether to embed the proposed changes into a four-year Enterprise Agreement – it is not to address short-term volatility.
