FRMS Update
FRMS Manual Revision 5 Update
A quick note to advise that Revision 5 of the FRMS Manuals has now taken effect. The changes arising from these revisions are currently being incorporated into the AskAFAP database.
The Short Haul component is expected to be completed and deployed by tomorrow.
The Long Haul component requires additional work, with the team aiming to have it live by the end of the week.
In the interim, there may be some discrepancies between responses provided by Ava and the current FRMS provisions. If you receive a response from Ava relating to an FRMS concern and wish to have it reviewed, please forward it to the Scheduling team within the app.

Additionally, the AFAP Safety & Technical Team are currently analysing the changes to the FRMS Manuals and will communicate further information when this has been completed.
Open Time Pattern Compliance
Separately, an AFAP member recently raised concerns regarding the construction of certain open time patterns and their compliance with the Agreement. Specifically, the issues related to LGW patterns concerning:
- The use of J class seating for passenger flights where the entitlement should have been First Class; and
- The exceedance of the 26-hour passenger travel limit
Following escalation to Qantas, a review of the affected patterns by Qantas confirmed that they had been constructed incorrectly and were not compliant with the Agreement.
Qantas has advised that any patterns including passenger travel exceeding 26 hours and/or the use of J Class where First Class is required will be corrected.
This is an excellent outcome for pilots and demonstrates the value of raising concerns when issues are identified. By bringing these matters forward, we are able to hold the company accountable, ensure compliance with the Agreement, and drive positive change for members.
