EA11 Negotiations Update
Yesterday, the AFAP, along with Qantas and AIPA representatives, attended a further conciliation conference before Deputy President Easton in the Fair Work Commission (FWC).
The conference provided a further opportunity for AIPA to work through the position reached between the AFAP and Qantas during negotiations last week. The discussions were constructive and the parties made significant progress towards a package that could be endorsed by both Unions.
While further work remains before an in principle agreement can be finalised, yesterday’s discussions reinforced that both Unions remain focused on delivering a package that materially improves upon the proposal rejected by pilots in April and reflects the priorities pilots identified through the post-vote surveys.
The matter will be relisted for a further conciliation conference before the FWC next Wednesday. In the interim discussions will continue between the parties in an effort to resolve the remaining outstanding matters.
While the FWC conciliation process continues, all parties agreed that it would not be appropriate to provide details of the package under negotiation until that process has concluded.
We thank members for their patience as we work through this critical phase of bargaining, and we will continue to keep members informed as negotiations progress.
