QPC Briefing No. 39 2026 - Broad Agreement Reached Between AFAP, AIPA and Qantas

QPC Briefing No. 39 2026
EA11 Negotiations Update

Over the past two weeks, the AFAP, AIPA and Qantas have participated in three days of conciliation conferences before the Fair Work Commission (FWC). Those discussions have now resulted in broad agreement between all three parties on the terms of an improved EA11 package.

The parties will now work to finalise the terms of the in-principle agreement in a document to be provided to the Deputy President, who will then reflect the agreed outcome in a formal recommendation of the Fair Work Commission.

We expect we will be in a position to provide pilots with the full details of the agreed package by the end of the week.

This is the outcome the AFAP has worked towards since 66% of Pilots rejected the first EA11 proposal in April. We have consistently maintained that Pilots are best served when both unions work together, and the new package represents a material improvement on the proposal rejected earlier this year.

The strength of the April No vote, together with the clear mandate pilots provided through the survey process that followed, was critical to securing a package that all parties have now reached broad agreement on.

Following the Commission’s recommendation, the parties will move immediately to finalise the drafting of the Enterprise Agreement so it can be put to pilots for a vote.

We thank pilots for their patience throughout the conciliation process and for their continued engagement during bargaining. It has been a long road since April, and today’s outcome is a direct result of pilots standing firm on what a fair agreement should deliver.
