QPC Briefing No. 47 2026 - EA11 Drafting Update

QPC Briefing No. 47 2026
EA11 Drafting Update

The AFAP met with Qantas and AIPA today to finalise the remaining drafting items for the proposed EA11.

This morning, Qantas provided an updated master document incorporating the latest drafting changes. The AFAP was able to review the document promptly and confirm its position on all updated items during today’s meeting.

The only matter still requiring final resolution relates to the inclusion of appropriate AFAP representative rights within the EA. The inclusion of these rights formed an important part of the in-principle agreement. Qantas provided its latest position on the AFAP’s representative rights last night, following discussions with AIPA on this earlier in the week.

As that position differs from position put forward by the AFAP we are considering it carefully to ensure the final drafting appropriately reflects the agreed rights. The AFAP will provide its response by Monday morning.

Qantas has advised that it expects to provide the updated final master document to the unions by mid-next week. We do not expect the outstanding representative-rights drafting to have any impact on the timing of the EA11 vote.

All parties will then be reviewing the master document for errors and clarifications before it can be finalised for release to pilots.

We will continue to update members as the process progresses.
