RE AFAP UPDATE CASA PIA & UNIONS MEETING INVITE– 8 Sept 2023
The AFAP and technical unions have continued to engage with CASA for improved outcomes regarding the log of claims, including attendance with all bargaining representatives for a compulsory Fair Work Commission conference on Monday 4 Sept 2023.
The joint Technical Union members meeting on Tuesday 5 Sept provided feedback on what you may have heard was an unsuccessful meeting, and members supported the continuing the approach of Protected Industrial Action (PIA), talked through the process of the ballots, and what might happen in the process. A brief update of the AFAP PIA ballot is below or contact the AFAP to discuss.
There has been no tangible change in what is being offered to satisfy the Technical Unions joint log of claims provided by CASA either in the recent FWC conference, or during the bargaining meeting yesterday, on the 7 September 2023.
CASA remain opposed for a separate technical enterprise agreement, even though these steps in good faith would go a long way to resolving disputes and concerns of union members. The priority issues from our members has been to continue seeking outcomes regarding the staffing concerns, workloads, and training require significant shift. The AFAP support this would be best approached in a separate enterprise agreement.
Next weeks bargaining meeting between the unions and CASA has been postponed, the next meeting will be on Thursday 21 Sept 2023 . CASA intend to use this time to provide more details to their proposals.
