EA Update No.21 – PIA Temporarily Suspended – Qantas to Provide Revised Position
Further to the emphatic message sent by Sunstate pilots in the form of the PIA Ballot result last week, we can advise that over the weekend the company wrote to your AFAP Negotiating Team to offer urgent talks on a revised offer.
The company requested that the notification of intended PIA actions be withheld pending these talks.
Your Negotiating Team has written to the company along the following lines:
"Further to your email of 1st October, the AFAP Sunstate Negotiating Team can confirm that we shall temporarily withhold sending Qlink a letter regarding the notification of intended action and that no notification of PIA will be sent to Qlink prior to a potential meeting scheduled for Wednesday 4th October.
We must point out though that should the meeting on Wednesday not deliver significant improvements in the positions previously tabled by Qlink it will be our intention to deliver notification of intended action at the conclusion of the meeting, for action to potentially commence the following Tuesday (10th)."
Your Negotiating Team will be crystal clear when we meet Qantas later this week – The Sunstate Pilots have clearly expressed their willingness to undertake PIA to secure a proper and robust Agreement. The company must significantly address a revised salary structure, DHAA and 10 days off. If the move from the company is not significant then of course notification of intended action will be delivered to the company.
The ability to ensure Qantas revised their position was solely down to the united and strong endorsement of PIA by Sunstate Pilots and we shall be reinforcing the sheer determination currently felt amongst the Sunstate pilot group when we meet later this week.
THANK YOU and CONTINUE TO REMAIN STRONG AND UNITED
