EA Update – Remember to Vote NO!

EA Update – Remember to Vote NO!

You will of course be aware, Qantas are about to put out their proposed Enterprise Agreement for ballot tomorrow. This is despite for months the AFAP membership making it apparently clear that the current proposals were clearly inadequate.

Before you vote ask yourself this question:
What progressive, caring, inclusive and professional organisation would put out a potential agreement despite having been clearly told by 85% of their workforce that they are willing (and able) to take PIA to secure a better deal than the one tabled.

Answer:

Yes you guessed it, Qantas. Why...because Qantas have none of the attributes listed above. It beggars belief that despite all that has gone on your management are willing to ignore the views of their pilots and attempt to steamroll through a substandard deal. Also remember that their caring attribute has been highlighted by the threat to remove certain payments if the deal is voted down.

Don’t be intimidated by these threats. The whole purpose of AFAP members undertaking PIA has been to try and convince Qantas to negotiate an Enterprise Agreement that will treat pilots fairly and deliver a sustainable agreement that will attract and retain pilots and recognise that you are QANTAS pilots.

It is clear – Vote No – Stand Together – Don’t be intimidated

As you’ll be aware we have temporarily suspended PIA pending a meeting with Qantas on Wednesday 11th. In order to prepare for that meeting we’ll be holding a members meeting, the details of which are:

Date: Tuesday 10th October
Venue: Raffles Hotel – Riverside Room - 70-72 Canning Beach Rd, Applecross 6153
Time: 6.30pm

We can also add a quick update regarding the AFAP Convention. On Friday the AFAP Annual Convention voted to approve the establishment of the Network Council. So well done to the reps and members who have built up membership to such high levels. The formal process to set up the Council will be conducted by the AEC at the next full round of Council Elections next year (to coincide with all council elections). The Convention also passed on their support and solidarity with a rousing ovation to the membership for being willing to stand up to Qantas.
