EA UPDATE No.11 – Protected Industrial Action Ballot Approved By Fair Work

EA UPDATE No.11 – Protected Industrial Action Ballot Approved By Fair Work

Just a quick update following our advising members that the PIA ballot application had been lodged this week. The Commission has now considered our application and has approved the process to commence a ballot for Industrial Action.

This process will be an electronic one run by a balloting agent approved by the Commission (Truevote). The ballot will be commencing next week. Initially you be sent generic voting instructions from Truevote and balloting will commence on 20th October, concluding on 2nd November. In between these dates you will be sent periodical SMS reminders to vote.

Also during this period the Commission will hold a compulsory conciliation conference between the AFAP and the company. This is a new requirement following recent changes to legislation.

Your reps did not want to have to take this step but the ongoing intransigence of Airwork to address any of our claims over what is now a period of over three years is just unacceptable.

The AFAP shall be sending out further information prior to the ballot commencing next week.

As always, we remain open for contact, comments and questions:
