EA Update No13 - Clear Ballot Result!

EA Update – Emphatic PIA Ballot Result – Company Must Positively Respond

The PIA ballot of Airwork members concluded yesterday and the results are EMPHATIC. The pilot group has resoundingly endorsed all the questions with a clear YES vote, with six of the ten forms of action obtaining a unanimous 100% result. In addition every member participated in the process, a clear sign of membership engagement and desire to see this EA concluded positively.

The full results can be viewed via this link

A big thanks to all of you for fully supporting your negotiating team and being willing to send a clear message to Airwork to properly address pilot concerns.

While the PIA ballot was running, and as part of recent legislative changes, some of the negotiating team met Airwork management at the Fair Work Commission to press strongly for the company to positively respond to the membership’s desire to see real rostering protections built into the proposed EA. The company responded that they would look further into the claims and consequently a meeting has been scheduled for Monday 6th November at the AFAP offices in Melbourne.

Now with the ballot results out the AFAP will be writing to Airwork today to reinforce the fact that unless the company positively and quickly respond to the claims of the negotiating team the next step will be the initiation of some form of authorised industrial action. It’s not a step we want to take, but the message from the AFAP membership is clear and Airwork must recognise that fact.

A BIG THANK YOU and CONTINUE TO REMAIN STRONG AND UNITED
