Pel Air - AV Contract Offer Update

Pel Air - AV Contract Offer Update

Pel-Air Members Updates 13 December

Ambulance Victoria – New Employment Contracts

Further to Mondays update, the AFAP thanks members for feedback via email and meetings regarding the current Ambulance Victoria employment contract offers.

The AFAP acknowledge the pilot group are continuing to HOLD TOGETHER the Pel-Air service delivery (in both NSW and Vic) by often agreeing to work additional shifts, whether on RDOs or through recall to annual leave.

The view of members that the current AV Contracts offer does not align to the EFFORTS of the pilot group, or RESPECT the pilot group need for Pel-Air to attract and retain pilots for sustainability.

Members views have been that at this time to NOT SIGN THE OFFER, while feedback about the offer is collected and presented to Pel-Air.

The AFAP are seeking members input regarding a suggestion of a counter proposal with changes you are comfortable to sign.

Some of the ideas to the counter offers include,

Base Salary Improvement.

  • Increase the Pel Air offer by 5% as temporary measure to attract/retain pilots (while bargaining progresses),
  • Incorporate $10,000 B350/B360 allowance as part of base rate (forms part of salary)

Extension Payment Increase

  • Based upon AFAP Rates above,
  • Includes 150% of hourly rate within the first 1st hour
  • Includes 200% of hourly rate for after 1st hour

Work on RDO

  • Seek an increase rate from $640 to $1000

Allowance Rates

  • Increase rates to reflect actual costs, or option to be reimbursed higher costs agreed in contract (and as per award in some cases).
  • Loss of licence reimbursement increase up to $3000 p.a. as per discussion in bargaining (not agreed).
  • Overtime (no break) meal allowance increased to the Award of ATO rates

CCTV Video/Audio Recording

  • AFAP seek an agreement to remove CCTV recording conditions in the schedule D while matter is explored further. As in NSW (which has not implemented CCTV), the AFAP position it was not lawful and similar issues present in Vic as NSW.

We ask members to put forward their views, identify priority areas and unite in support of improvement for the pilot group.

While no improvements to conditions are being agreed or offered by Pel-Air during bargaining this may be an opportunity to seek some improvements in the short term.

If you have feedback or queries on any of the matters above, please contact the AFAP EB Team,

  • Pel-Air Aeromedical Pilot, Zach Buckle, and
  • AFAP Industrial Officer, Jason Newell, e. jason@afap.org.au
