Narrow Body EA Update #10 - AFAP Pay Calculator

Narrow Body EA Update #10 - AFAP Pay Calculator

As we stated in our recent update attached here is the AFAP pay calculator for members. The calculator incorporates new payments to the Virgin EA24 that adds additional income (both guaranteed and via productivity/ overnights) to the base pay that we outlined in our Update #9.

Each individual can modify various parameters to estimate their pay depending upon what they as an individual think is realistic.

The following are the parameters that can be changed:

  • Cell B3 - The comparison year will estimate the pay for the FY commencing 1 July of that year. The only options available are 2024, 2025 and 2026.

  • Cell B6 – Insert estimated ATO TD increase for the “reasonable travel and overtime meal allowance expense amounts.” Historically the ATO increase these amounts by around 2% each year. This is for ODTA, not DTA which has been set at annual increases of 3%.
  • Cell B7 – Insert average productivity hours above 65 in off-peak Roster Periods. Insert 0.1 to force calculator to assume 65 hours are rostered for 2023 comparison where MCG was 57.5 (must also be entered in Cell B8).
  • Cell B8 – Insert average productivity hours above 70 in peak Roster Periods. Insert 0.1 to force calculator to assume 65 hours are rostered for 2023 comparison where MCG was 57.5 (must also be entered in Cell B7).
  • Cell B9 – Insert average DTA hours per month (average of 80 is recommended). This figure can be dependent upon bidding preferences and/ or base (day trips or overnights). DTA hours are paid on duty hours for flying, paxing, training and agreed ground duties (and does not involve a Layover). Unless a pilot takes an entire year of personal leave, or never does a day trip, there is a guaranteed component to DTA being paid.
  • Cell B10 – Insert average ODTA hours per month. This figure is the total time from sign on to sign off in home base when the duty includes a layover. The allowance is increased from Table 2 to Table 3 of the ATO TD for ODTA, representing an increase of 9.27%.
  • Cell B11 – Insert average DDO worked per year, including Local Night or DDO Buffer Infringements greater than 2 hours.
  • Cell B12 – Insert average Local Night or DDO Buffer Infringements between 0 and 60 minutes per year.
  • Cell B13 – Insert average Local Night or DDO Buffer Infringements more than 60 minutes up to 2 hours per year.

Importantly ODTA (as this is an existing overnight allowance for meals and incidentals) has not been included in the Total comparisons between previous EA’s and years, however, is reflected at the bottom for your reference as this has increased 9.27%.

As the Retention payment is guaranteed to be paid and not linked to ELT or company performance this is included at its minimum floor position based on 747.5 hours (65x11.5). When productivity hours are inserted in Cells B7 and B8 the calculator will reflect the additional Retention paid under the productivity payments.

Productivity Payments have been reflected separately so that you can zero these, and if you wish to compare 2023 MCG to the proposed package MCG, zero Cells B7 to B13. To assume that you are rostered 65 and 70 hours in off-peaks and peaks in 2023 (not guaranteed) and compare to 2024 insert 0.1 in both Cells B7 and B8.

To assume that you are rostered 69 and 70 hours in off-peaks and peaks in 2023 and compare to 2024 insert 4.0 in Cell B7 and 0.1 in Cell B8.
