Ongoing Uncertainty Regarding Redundancies.
Following the news late last year of the loss of the TGE contract, it was only very recently that Airwork recently asked members to express an interest in voluntary redundancies. After the closure of the expressions date the AFAP wrote to the company seeking an update.
The AFAP has today been advised today by Airwork that despite 'not receiving sufficient voluntary redundancy requests' that the redundancy process is on hold while July rosters are planned and the company seeks certainty for July and August work. We understand that members have also been directly advised as such as well.
The AFAP has not been advised as to what 'sufficient' number of volunteer redundancies were sought and is not clear why the voluntary redundancy process was initiated when workloads and plans were seemingly yet to be sorted out.
While it is of course always good to avoid redundancies, the lack of any clarity or plans regarding pilot numbers has resulted in the AFAP writing to Airwork to seek a meeting in order for some clarity to be provided. We shall of course keep you advised of developments.
