Airwork & Redundancies - Outcome of Meeting.
Further to our brief last week and after requesting a meeting with the company, we can advise that a meeting with company representatives was held today.
The AFAP raised a number of questions, initially indicating that the lack of communications with the pilots was causing the greatest concern. Airwork did indicate that workload discussions within clients were still ongoing but they hoped to circulate more information within a week or two to the pilot group.
Regarding the issue of compulsory and/or voluntary redundancies (and working on the premise that enabling a volunteer to come forward rather than enforce a compulsory redundancy was always the more preferred option for the Federation) the company did confirm that even though the window for volunteers had closed they were still open to approaches from pilots who were still considering volunteering.
The Company also confirmed that if the current client discussions were completed without additional or ongoing work being secured, Airwork would still be seeking roughly the same number of potential redundancies as before, which they characterised as a 'handful'. Airwork also gave the preliminary view that if compulsory redundancies were needed they were currently looking at the main parameters for selecting those redundancies as being base and rank.
The Federation requested that if the necessity for compulsory redundancies transpired that a further meeting meeting would need to held to enable consultation on the redundancy process. The company confirmed that this would undertaken. Prior to such a meeting the Federation will be seeking thoughts and comments from the membership regarding the next steps.
In the meantime if you have any questions or concerns do contact your AFAP reps below or the AFAP directly. Again if you are still considering that volunteering for a redundancy is an option we would urge you to contact the company directly to register your interest.
