RE AFAP (Nauru Airlines) Pilot Committee & Next Steps
AFAP/Nauru Air - Pilot Committee
The AFAP received three nominations for the pilot committee (below), and thereby the nominees to be appointed to the AFAP/Nauru Air Pilot Committee include:
- Captain Alex Gagiero
- Captain Scott Newman
- First Officer Christiaan Kruger
If there are any members that did not express interest and/or wanted to provide feedback please contact Jason@afap.org.au as soon as possible.
The intention is for the AFAP to provide confirmation to the Nauru Air HOFO of the pilot committee members on Friday 5 July 2024 so meeting schedules can be planned in advance.
Pilot Group Input/Feedback
The intended purpose of the pilot committee will be to listen and raise the concerns of the pilot group, be provided the assistance and resources of the AFAP, and to explore options for change/resolution with management representatives. The utility of the pilot committee will continue to be discussed and explored.
The AFAP intend to provide a survey to the pilot group (via AFAP members) regarding workplace matters/conditions to assist to establish priorities and direction for the pilot committee.
The AFAP will provide a further update and a survey link.
Pending on matters raised, it is the intention to explore temporary or longer term resolutions (or potentially both), look at the options available to support timely resolutions, sustainable agreements and the best option forward.
As matters raised relate to the Air Pilots Award 2020, a legal instrument, we may be guided by the options available under the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth), including bargaining for an enterprise agreement - however there will be ongoing updates as all steps above move forward.
Pilot Group & AFAP Member Meetings - TBC
The AFAP will be seeking that Nauru Air Pilot Group meetings are to be scheduled again, due to understanding there has been a significant gap between meetings.
In addition to the pilot committee meeting with management, by investing time to AFAP members meetings (to be confirmed), pilot group surveys, and structured discussions pilots can all contribute towards some positive outcomes.
Should you have any feedback, queries or additional matters you would like to raise please contact either Jason Newell on Jason@afap.org.au, or James Mattner on James@afap.org.au.
Regards,
The AFAP Industrial Team
