Consultation on Fleet Transition - No2

Transition to an all 400 Fleet – Consultation with AFAP Delayed

Further to the recent announcements last week and the initial round of consultation with the company, there has been an exchange of correspondence with the company confirming the initial views of both parties. Disappointingly the hoped for meeting that was provisionally requested at the end of this week seemingly looks like it cannot be accommodated by the company. It is hoped that your Council representatives will be meeting with the company early next week, and we shall of course keep you advised.

The meeting will be an important one as the initial views of the company relating to seniority and the requirements of the company did cause the Council some concerns. While the movement to the all 400 fleet is welcome news we are concerned that the provisions of the EA could potentially not be adhered to following the announcement from the company regarding the EOI process.

Your Council reps are keen to ensure that not only is the EA adhered too but that the openness of an EOI process can also provide reassurance to members that no one is being disadvantaged by this process. We have also requested the company’s intention regarding bypass pay should it be required. These are important questions and why the necessity of the company to keep engaging with your Council remains of paramount importance.

If you have any questions and concerns please do ensure you contact your AFAP representatives:

Jarrod Blaker, Anthony Berko, Russell Thompson, Richard Copland, Dan Lyons, Louise Pole, Bianca Salim and Thomas Dunphy.

In addition to your Council Committee member there is AFAP staff member Chris Aikens on chris@afap.org.au. The AFAP Member Assistance Program (MAP) can be contacted via Freecall 1300 307 912
