Last week, the AFAP applied to the Fair Work Commission (FWC) to make a protected action ballot order (PABO). A PABO is an order of the FWC that a vote be taken of Skytraders pilots who will be covered by the proposed enterprise agreement and who are members of the AFAP. These pilots will be asked whether they support various forms of industrial action being taken in order to support their claims in the proposed enterprise agreement.
Yesterday, Deputy President Hampton of the FWC made that order - a copy of it can be located [HERE], and the decision of the FWC can be located [HERE].
The matter of most immediate importance is that pilots must ensure that their details held by the AFAP are correct and up to date. This must be done by 7 January 2025 at 4pm AEDT at the latest. Please ensure this is done, otherwise you might miss out on being able to vote.
By the time the vote closes, the FWC must have conducted a conference between the parties. Accordingly there iwll be a conference in the New Year, prior to 17 January 2025. That conference will be listed by the FWC in due course.
The AFAP will provide further information on the voting process early next year. We will also issue information sheets on protected industrial action and be available to answer any questions you might have.
The AFAP extends its warmest wishes to all members and their families for a safe and merry Christmas and a happy New Year and looks forward to working with you all in the year ahead.
