Section 448A Conference in the Fair Work Commission
As part of the protected action ballot process, the Fair Work Commission (FWC) is required to conduct a conference between the bargaining representatives prior to the protected action ballot vote closing on 17 January 2025. That conference occured earlier this afternoon before Commissioner Wilson.
Your pilot representatives have made you aware of the revised rostering proposals recieved from Skytraders. Skytraders sent these proposals to the AFAP and the FWC late yesterday. Due to the tight time frame, the AFAP and your pilot representatives were not able to canvas Pilots sufficiently on the new proposals. The proposals can be accessed [
HERE].
In light of this, the AFAP used the conference before Commissioner Wilson today to gain clarity on the revised rostering proposals. The information gained was useful, and the AFAP will discuss that information with your pilot representatives and with you in the coming days.
A further conference is listed for Tuesday next week, 14 January 2025 at 4pm. During that conference, we will be in a position to put a concrete response to Skytraders proposals, having consulted with the pilots.
Of course, the lines of communication between Skytraders and the AFAP is always open, so the parties will be able to have dicsussions prior to next Tuesday if necessary, in order to futher your enterprise agreement.
Protected Action Ballot Vote
The Ballot Agent has provided a timetable for the conduct of the protected action ballot vote.
A copy of the timetable can be accessed [
HERE].
We do not expect there will be any change to that timetable. In the event there is a change, you will be clearly informed.
If you are a member of the AFAP, you should be receiving material from the ballot agent in the coming days. If you do not receive this material, please inform us immediately. The roll of voters will be finalised at 1700 AEDT on Thursday, 9 January 2025.
