Hi Lennie,
QLink Responds to the Pilot Council Letter re the Fokker
Further to our letter that we recently sent to the Chairman of Qantas (and CEO), we did receive a response late on Thursday evening.
The company's response can be viewed
here.
While your Pilot Council had written to the Chairman of the Board and CEO in an attempt to highlight both the strength of feeling of the Council and the Fokker pilots, it was disappointing that the letter was delegated to the CEO of Qantaslink, without even an acknowledgement from the Chair of our correspondence.
While as always comments from members regarding this response are always welcome, it would be fair to say that there is nothing within the letter that addresses the concerns of the Fokker pilots and Council regarding industrially protecting our Fokker members. While the safety improvements are noted there is a real fear in the Fokker community that this fleet is a disaster waiting to happen and the urgency of obtaining a new replacement fleet remains real and unaddressed.
The positive aspect of ongoing engagement with the Pilot Council is welcome and your representatives will take every opportunity to keep seeking protections for our Fokker pilots that cover both industrial and direct safety issues.
