Survey and Collaborative Negotiation Approach
As previously foreshadowed, to gather input from as many Jetstar pilots as possible, the AFAP created an identical version of our EA survey for broader distribution. This survey was shared with both AIPA and the TWU immediately after the AFAP released the survey to members in early March. We are pleased to report that the TWU shared the survey with their members, allowing us to gather valuable feedback.
The extensive responses from AFAP members, alongside the feedback from the TWU, have been instrumental in shaping our log of claims for upcoming negotiations with Jetstar.
As part of our commitment to a collaborative approach, the AFAP has scheduled a meeting with the AIPA negotiation team on 8 May 2025, ahead of the commencement of formal negotiations with Jetstar. We are optimistic that our respective logs of claims will align closely, and we have requested that AIPA come prepared to discuss their recent EA survey results, as well as an outline of the key claims they will be pursuing in bargaining. The AFAP will, of course, do the same.
We will provide a further update following the conclusion of this meeting.
AFAP Membership Survey
On the topic of surveys, we remind you to please complete the AFAP Membership Survey below:
2025 Membership Survey
The results of this survey will help us identify the issues most important to you, highlight areas where our services could be improved, and find better ways to communicate with our broader membership. All responses will be aggregated and will remain completely anonymous and confidential.
Highline Opt-In
For those who joined Jetstar after 30 April 2024, you may not have had the opportunity to opt into Highline. Highline is a valuable opportunity for eligible pilots to increase their salary by approximately 9-12% through the payment of additional allowances when on duty (100% duty highline and 50% layover highline). These allowances are outlined in clause 40.8.3 of the EA.
If you wish to transition to Highline, you must opt in by completing the JEN form (instructions below) no later than 30 April 2025 (i.e. TOMORROW!). This will ensure your Highline benefits commence on 1 July 2025.
Please note that highline pilots are subject to the following provisions of the EA which are additional efficiencies for Jetstar:
- 8 AVAIL days per Calander year (clause 46.12)
- Jetstar may flex you down to 9 DDOs in two months, with no reduction in your annual DDO count (132 Days) (clause 46.6)
- 50% of the Company Performance Bonus (CPB) (clause 43.2.2)
How to Opt-In:
To opt in, please access the form via JEN:
- JEN Home Page → Pilots → Forms → Highline Pilot Allowance (OPT-IN Only)
- Alternatively, you can click here
Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to keeping you informed as we move forward with these critical negotiations.
