In 2010 the AFAP created a new initiative aimed at providing a forum to identify and pursue industrial and professional issues relevant to women pilot members.

The AFAP Women's Network was launched and now numbers more than 500 members across Australia.

AFAP Women's Network events provide support and resources for these members and contributes to their learning about inspiring women to join - and thrive - within our profession.

These events also provide an excellent opportunity for members to network with other women pilots working in the Aviation industry.

Members of the AFAP and Civil Air attended a joint event at Brisbane Airport on 12 March marking International Women's Day 2026

AFAP Women's Network Convenor Captain Louise Pole hosted the event for the pilots and air traffic controllers who attended the event.

The program featured a special presentation from registered psychologist Dasha Arthur (from the AFAP's Member Assistance Program provider) on sleep management and the impact of hormones and fatigue.
