Position Overview
The Head of Operations (HOO) is responsible for the effective management and oversight of all flight training activities conducted at Ansett Aviation Training centres under its Part 141/142 regulatory approval. The Head of Operations is a “key person” and is responsible for ensuring that all training is conducted in accordance with the regulatory requirements and that instructors and examiners are appropriately qualified, and experienced. The HOO is responsible for developing and maintaining the quality of training programs, guiding and mentoring flight training personnel, and maintaining an oversight of the training facilities used so as to provide customers with a high-quality training experience. The HOO ensures that all Ground Training and Simulator Training conforms with the company’s quality management system requirements and that all instructors deliver a standardised training product.
Qualifications Required
- Hold a current Flight Examiner Rating
- Hold an Airline Transport Pilot Licence
- Be authorised under CASR Part 61 to pilot an A320 or FK70/100 or BAE146 or DHC8
- Be acceptable to CASA
Key Skills and Experience
Minimum
- At least 500 hours flight time on A320 or FK70/100 or BAE146 or DHC8
- At least 6 months experience in the conduct or management of air operations conducted under an AOC or equivalent foreign authorisation.
- Previous training and checking experience
Preferred
- Previous Head of Operations/Flight Training Manager, Operations Manager or Chief Pilot of an airline.
- Multiple aircraft type ratings and instrument rating renewals
- Background in technical training and flight training.
Other Attributes
- Strong basic management, human relations and communication skills. A team builder and experienced manager.
- An advanced working knowledge of computer operations and Microsoft Office applications
