About the role
National Parks and Wildlife Service has a unique opportunity for a Pilot, Fixed Wing to work as part of the close-knit team in NPWS’ Flight Unit at Bankstown. Parkair operations include but are not limited to: fire management; low level survey operations; flood disaster support; aerial agricultural operations (dropping of baits under Part 138). The Pilot will transport people and equipment and provide support to specific field operations throughout NSW and ensure flight operations are undertaken in a safe, cost effective manner that complies with Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) regulations.
About you
Your passion for your community and environment, coupled with a strong attention to detail and safety will be key to your success in this role. You will have prior experience in a similar role and operating environment with a strong decision-making ability and aptitude to think on your feet. Because the role may occasionally operate in remote locations, it is essential to possess skills and abilities to solve problems and make decisions in relation to flying operations in accordance with CASA orders and regulations, navigational issues, operating conditions and within the capabilities of the aircraft.
Essential requirements
The minimum qualifications/Ratings and or endorsements required is:
- A Commercial Pilots License or higher and a minimum of 2000 hours total fixed wing flying experience and 1500 hours pilot in command with the following minimums:
- 100 hours C208/C208B experience
- 300 hours low flying experience
- Night VFR
- Low level rating
- Command instrument rating with 2D and 3D
- Manual Propeller Pitch Control rating (constant speed propeller).
- Knowledge of Air Operations in relation to fire management and mitigation, in particular fire spotting experience.
- Highly developed aviation skills particularly in remote terrain.
- The ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team in all aspects of the role.
The position requires an extensive knowledge of the capabilities and specifications of the particular aircraft that are flown in the Flight Unit: Cessna 208/208B EX G1000 panel.
Desirable:
- Aerial Application rating
- Experience in mustering and using bush airstrips.
