SENIOR INDUSTRIAL OFFICER

With his exceptional negotiating skills and detailed industrial relations knowledge, David has successfully negotiated agreements across a variety of operations within the aviation industry including major operators Cobham, Tiger, Network, Skippers Aviation, BAE Systems, CHC Helicopters, Bristow Helicopters, Helicopters Australia/Babcock, HNZ/PHI, and several other rotary and fixed wing operators.

David has 30 years’ experience in industrial relations, starting his career in 1989 with the Health and Community Services Union (HACSU) as an Organiser, progressing to the roles of Industrial Officer and then Senior Industrial Officer. When David joined the AFAP in 2006 he held the positions of HACSU Assistant State Secretary, Senior Industrial Officer and Media and Communications Officer, and HSUA Assistant National Secretary.

Before his career in industrial relations, David worked as a Psychiatric Nurse. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (majoring in Legal Studies) and a Diploma in Journalism, and is currently completing a law degree.
