The AFAP President coordinates the industrial and technical activities of the union. The President liaises with the Vice Presidents, Trustees, the Safety & Technical Director, Welfare Director and Council Chairs in regards to the operations of the Federation. 

Captain Louise Pole is a Dash 8-400 Captain with Sunstate Airlines. Throughout her 20-year career with Sunstate Louise has flown the Shorts 360, Dash 8-100, 200, 300 and 400. Louise has served on the Sunstate Pilot Committee since 2004 and was a member of the Sunstate Pilot’s Bargaining Agreement team for 2005/2008/2011 and 2015 as well as serving as Secretary

In 2009 Louise was elected AFAP Vice President of Administration and Finance with responsibility for oversight of budgeting and financial governance matters. In 2010 Louise established the AFAP Women's Network, providing a unique forum to identify and pursue industrial and professional issues relevant to women members. Since its inception, the number of women members has increased to almost 500 members.

In October 2018 Louise was elected as the 32nd AFAP President. Reelected in 2021, she is currently serving her second term.
